Designate Your Pledge to Health Issues Taskforce

Health Issues Taskforce (HIT) is not a member agency of United Way and does not automatically receive United Way funds. However, HIT is part of United Way's Donor Option program, and can receive designated donations. Even though HIT does not appear in the United Way book of agencies you will receive during the campaign, you can write in the Taskforce to receive part or cili of your contribution. In this way, you guarantee that your pledge will help people with AIDS.

How to designate your donation to HIT:

➡ Some companies have special "designated donor" or "donor option" cards. Ask your employer for one. Complete the card, listing the Taskforce as the desig-

nee.

If your company does not have a special donor option card, you can write in Health Issues Taskforce on you pledge card--either along the top of the card or along a line that my be provided.

You can also write a letter, saying you wish your pledge to go to the Taskforce. Attach this letter to your pledge card.

How to list the Taskforce on your pledge card: Write "Health Issues Taskforce" along with the address; Write "H.I.T." along with the address; or

For United Way in Cuyahoga County only, write "Agency #50994"--HIT'S Donor Option number--along with the address. (Some employers may not accept this listing; check first.)

Always include our address in the designation: 2250 Euclid Avenue / Cleveland, OH 44115. This is especially important if you work outside of Cuyahoga County. Last year, the Taskforce received donations from United Way campaigns in counties outside Cuyahoga, such as Ashtabula, Lake, and Summit Counties.

Companies sometimes have their own policies regarding designated donations. Some companies do not accept designated donations; some do not allow designated donations through payroll deductions and require a lump sum payment. Most companies have no restrictions on designated donations. Check with your company about such policies.

Finally, please send us a copy of your pledge card or letter. This will help the Taskforce track donations and catch clerical errors and/or missing donors. If you have any questions, call the Taskforce at (216) 621-0766.
